L-Ascorbic Acid, Sodium Salt is a vitamin widely distributed in the plant and animal kingdom.
- pKa: pK1: 4.17, pK2: 11.57(Lit.)
- Oxidizes on exposure to light and air
L-Ascorbic Acid, Sodium Salt is used as an antimicrobial and antioxidant in foodstuffs, a reductant for the isolation of chloroplasts. It has an effect on the nonspecific immune system. It preserves nitric oxide (NO) which may help prevent endothelial dysfunction, helps prevent and reverse the oxidative damage done to proteins and lipids as a result of cigarette smoke.
L-Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) is a water soluble molecule use in a wide variety of applications, including cell culture, as a reducing agent that helps reduce oxidative stress. L-Ascorbate can be regenerated by biological systems.
