Supplier: VWR Chemicals
Description: A small biomolecule, 244 Daltons, that has high binding affinity to avidin and streptavidin often used to label antibodies and enzymes. Several molecules of biotin can react with a single protein molecule to increase the sensitivity at the site of detection.
Supplier: Thermo Scientific
Description: D-(+)-Biotin ≥98%
Supplier: Thermo Scientific
Description: D-Biotin-N-succinimidyl ester ≥98%
Supplier: VWR Chemicals
Description: A 60 kDa tetrameric protein that exhibits high binding affinity for biotin. Able to bind one molecule of biotin with each subunit, streptavidin is useful in affinity chromatography, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, and Western Blotting.
Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Essential vitamin that is important for amino acid and energy metabolism, and fatty acid synthesis. It is a prosthetic group in four mammalian carboxylase families and facilitates the binding and transfer of carbon dioxide.

D-Biotin is a growth factor present in small amounts in every living cell. It is involved in naturally occurring carboxylation reactions. It occurs mainly bound to proteins or polypeptides. It is more abundant in the liver, kidney, pancreas, yeast and milk. Biotin levels are higher in cancerous tumors than in normal tissues. It is inactivated by binding to avidin.
D-Biotin may be used to elute proteins from avidin/streptavidin resins. It is widely used for dietary supplements and fortified foods. It is also used for tablets and hard-shell capsule preparation due to its pharmaceutical properties.

Soluble in water (22 mg/100 mL), ethanol (80 mg/100 mL), more soluble in hot water and in dilute alkalies; insoluble in other common organic solvents. Soluble in 2 M Ammonium hydroxide (50 mg/mL - clear, colorless solution), dimethylformamide (1.7 mg/mL).

Catalog Number: (SOLUB-9007-105K)
Supplier: TRILINK BIOTECHNOLOGIES
Supplier Article Number:: B-9007-105K
Description: ChromaLink™ Biotin Protein Labelling kit offers a complete solution for the quantitative biotinylation of proteins from 20 kDa to 200 kDa and from 25 µg to 1 mg. The kit incorporates traceable biotin on proteins and allows for direct spectrophotometric verification of biotin incorporation. A simple Å280 and Å354 measurement determines the number of biotins per protein molecule.

Description: Streptavidin effectively binds to biotin with an isoelectric point close to neutral and it contains no carbohydrate residues.
UOM: 1 * 1 mg

Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Avidin is a basic glycoprotein consisting of four essentially identical subunits. The combined molecular weight of the subunits is about 66,000. Each subunit is a single polypeptide chain containing 128 amino acid residues with alanine at the N-terminal, glutamic acid at the C-terminal, and a carbohydrate moiety attached at the aspariginyl residue, position 17. It is isolated from raw egg white. It exhibits high binding affinity for biotin and is capable of producing biotin deficiency in rats and chicks. It also occurs in the white portion of eggs and the oviducts of birds and amphibia. It is destroyed by cooking or irradiation.
